Santa Monica Farmers' Market

I just wanted to show you what I found at the famous Santa Monica farmers' market. It's as amazing as the Good Food podcast makes it sound. The coolest thing I found was fresh passionfruit. Here's a photo of the tasty seedy gooeyness. The vendor gave me a sample and told me that the husks can be used to make tea. I haven't done that yet, but it's worth a try. I'm going to try to go to the market every other week since Pasadena already has a pretty nice one on Thursdays.

Also, I recently got a bread machine. I made a Rosemary French Bread and a Challah bread. Both turned out well. Next I'm going to try a pumpkin pull-apart loaf. Here's a picture of the challah:

how're you liking the bread machine? I rarely use mine to completion (ie bake the bread in it). I mostly use it to knead and rise the dough and then bake normally in the oven. your challah looks good though...

have you tried making those live crackers yet?

I haven't even tried to bake something separately. It's just so convenient to dump ingredients in there and have a loaf of bread come out (especially with the delay bake). I might try to do some pizza dough or bagels.

I haven't tried making the crackers yet. Who would have thought doing a PhD would be so much work?
